Yellow Belt Technique Manual

1. DELAYED SWORD (right hand lapel grab, or right punch)

  1. Standing naturally, step back with your left foot towards 6 o’clock into the right neutral bow stance facing 12 o’clock and execute a right inward block to the right inner wrist of your opponent, as your left check guards near your solar-plexus.
  2. Immediately deliver a right front snap ball kick to opponent’s groin.
  3. As you plant your right foot down toward 11 o’clock (employing marriage of gravity), execute a right outward snapping hand-sword strike to the right side of your opponent’s neck and return immediately to the blocking position at the opponent’s right wrist.

2. ALTERNATING MACES (two hand – front push)

  1. Standing naturally, and as the opponent pushes you, step back with your left foot towards 6 o’clock into a right neutral bow stance facing 12 o’clock as you execute a right downward inward block on top of the opponent’s arms. While your left fist cocks to your left hip.
  2. With your right arm still across both of your opponent’s arms acting as a check. Immediately pivot into a right forward bow stance and deliver a left vertical thrust punch over your right arm to the opponent’s sternum or solar-plexus.
  3. Drop your left arm down and across both the opponent’s arms to continue checking as you pivot back into a right neutral bow stance and deliver a right horizontal back-knuckle strike to the left temple of the opponent.
  4. Immediately snap your right hand back into a fighting position.

3. SWORD OF DESTRUCTION (left straight or roundhouse punch)

  1. Standing naturally, step back with your left foot towards 6 o’clock into a right neutral bow stance facing 12 o’clock as you execute a right extended outward block to the left inner wrist of the opponent’s left punch as your left check guards near your solar-plexus.
  2. Immediately deliver a right front snap ball kick to opponent’s groin.
  3. As you plant your right foot down (employing marriage of gravity) execute a right inward snapping hand-sword strike to the left side of your opponent’s neck and return immediately to the blocking position at the opponent’s left wrist.

4. DEFLECTING HAMMER (right front thrust kick)

  1. Standing naturally, step back with your left foot towards 6 o’clock into a right neutral bow stance facing 12 o’clock as you execute a right downward block, against the outside of opponent’s kicking leg deflecting the kick towards 5 o’clock.
  2. Immediately execute a left inward check to the outside of the opponent’s right arm at or above the elbow.
  3. Shuffle forward (push drag) as you execute a right inward elbow strike to the opponent’s right rib-cage or face, depending upon the circumstances.

5. CAPTURED TWIGS (rear bear hug around waist arms pinned)

  1. Standing naturally, with the opponent’s arms around you, step off with your left foot toward 9 o’clock into a horse stance facing 12 o’clock (employing marriage of gravity), as you simultaneously pin your opponent’s hands with your left hand.
  2. As your weight settles into your horse stance, execute a right back hammer fist strike to the opponent’s groin.
  3. Immediately release your left pinning hand as you drag your right foot into a right 90-degree cat stance facing 3 o’ clock. Simultaneously circle your right hand over and on top of the opponent’s right forearm to break the hold and spread their arms apart, as your left check guards in front of your face.
  4. Immediately execute a right stomp on the longitude arch of your opponent’s left foot, followed by a right upward obscure elbow to the chin, snapping back and down to act as a low positional check as maintain your left check in front of your face.

6. THE GRASP OF DEATH (left flank right arm headlock)

  1. While bent over forward at the waist with the opponent standing upright applying a right arm headlock, simultaneously grab his right wrist with your right hand as you step forward with your right foot toward 12 o’clock into a right close kneel stance facing 12 o’clock.
  2. Simultaneously reach up between his legs (as high as you can get) and grab the flesh with all four fingers to pinch (horse bite) his leg as you check the outside of his right leg with your left knee.
  3. As your opponent releases their grip, bring their right arm over your head and down in front of you. Simultaneously transform your left grab into a vertical forearm check while you stand up into a right neutral bow stance.
  4. Immediately left step through toward 10 o’clock landing in a left neutral bow in front of the opponent’s right leg as you execute a left inward downward forearm strike to the back of their right elbow causing a break (arm-bar) forcing them to step forward with their left foot and bend over at the waist.
  5. Transform your left forearm strike into a grab to their right elbow for better control and execute a right downward inverted vertical punch to the base of the opponent’s skull or neck near his right mastoid bone.

7. CHECKING THE STORM (front right step-thru overhead club)

  1. Standing naturally as the opponent swings a club at you, step off with your right foot toward 4 o’clock and drag your left foot into a left 45-degree cat stance facing 10 o’clock.
  2. Simultaneously execute a right high inward block followed by a left upward extended outward block (double factor blocks), and a right check in front of your solar-plexus.
  3. Immediately execute a left right chicken kick with your left foot striking the groin and the right foot striking the solar-plexus.
  4. From your right kick land back towards 4 o’clock into a left neutral bow stance with your hands up in a fighting position (fists closed).

8. MACE OF AGGRESSION (two-hand lapel grab- pulling in)

  1. Standing naturally as the opponent grabs your lapel with both hands and pulls you in towards them, immediately pin and check their hands with your left hand.
  2. Simultaneously execute a right inward downward raking back knuckle, striking diagonally from 2 o’clock to 8 o’ clock across the bridge of the opponent’s nose as you deliver a right stomp towards 12 o’clock on the opponent’s left longitude arch.
  3. Continue the motion of your right arm so that it strikes horizontally and down onto both forearms of your opponent, forcing them to bend forward.
  4. Immediately execute a right inward horizontal elbow strike through the left jaw. Immediately return with a right outward horizontal elbow strike to the opponent’s right jaw (shuffling in if necessary).

9. ATTACKING MACE (front straight right punch)

  1. Standing naturally, step back with your right foot towards 6 o’clock into a left neutral bow stance facing 12 o’clock as you execute a left inward block to the outside of the opponent’s right punch.
  2. Pivot into a left forward bow stance as you execute a right straight thrust punch to their right rib cage keeping your left hand open in a checking position at or above the opponent’s right elbow.
  3. From your right punch circle your right hand counterclockwise around and over the opponent’s right arm to grab their right wrist. Immediately pull them in towards you and deliver a right front snap ball kick to the right rib-cage or solar-plexus.
  4. From the right kick land back into a left neutral bow stance with your hands up in a fighting position.

10. SWORD AND HAMMER (right flank – left hand shoulder grab)

  1. Standing naturally with the opponent grabbing your right shoulder with their left hand from your right flank, immediately pin the opponent’s left hand with your left check as you step off with your right foot towards 3 o’clock into a horse stance facing 12 o’clock and simultaneously execute a right outward hand-sword strike to their Adams-apple.
  2. As the opponent reacts to your hand-sword strike and arches back, execute a right downward and backward hammer-fist strike to their groin.

SHORT FORM 1

Theme: Retreating with a Front Hand Block
  1. Start from a meditating horse stance facing 12:00.
  2. Drop your left foot back to 6:00, into a right neutral bow while simultaneously delivering a right inward block and a left back elbow strike.
  3. Drop your right foot back to 6:00, into a left neutral bow while simultaneously delivering a left inward block and a right back elbow strike.
  4. Turn to face your next imaginary opponent at 9:00. Step with your right foot to 3:00, into a left neutral bow, while simultaneously delivering a right inward block followed by left outward block and a right back elbow strike.
  5. Drop your left foot back to 3:00 into a right neutral bow while simultaneously delivering a left inward right outward block combination and a left back elbow strike.
  6. Turn to face your next imaginary opponent at 3:00, moving your right foot forward to “cover.” Settle into a left neutral bow while simultaneously delivering a right high inward block followed by a left upward block and right back elbow strike.
  7. Drop your left foot back to 9:00 into a right neutral bow while simultaneously delivering a left high inward block followed by a right upward block and left back elbow strike.
  8. Turn to face your next imaginary opponent at 6:00, drawing your foot up to a transitional cat stance, executing a left inward downward block palm up (active check). Step back with your left foot towards 12:00, into a right neutral bow, while simultaneously delivering a right outward downward block and left back elbow strike.
  9. Drop your right foot back to a 12:00, into a left neutral bow, while simultaneously delivering a right inward downward block palm up, followed by a left downward outward block palm down and right back elbow strike .
  10. Step clockwise with your left foot to 12:00, returning to a meditative horse stance, thus returning to point of origin.

BLOCKING SET 1

The concepts focused on in this set are those of “Point of Origin.” In other words, you do not have to re- chamber to execute another block. You can instantly and quickly turn one block into another. Try to imagine a star as you do this.
  1. Start from a meditative horse stance facing 12 :00.
  2. Execute a right upward block.
  3. Leaving your hand as the focal point, execute a right inward block.
  4. From the inside, rotate at the shoulder and execute a right extended outward block .
  5. From there, circle it down counter-clockwise and execute a right outward downward block.
  6. Chamber the arm executing a right back elbow.
  7. Execute a right push-down block.
(Repeat on the opposite side, using the same sequence of blocks with the left arm.)
  1. Execute a left upward block.
  2. Leaving your hand as the focal point, execute a left inward block.
  3. From the inside, rotate at the shoulder and execute a left extended outward block.
  4. From there, circle it down counter-clockwise and execute a left outward downward block.
  5. Chamber the arm executing a left back elbow.
  6. Execute a left push-down block.
  7. Repeat using the same sequence of blocks with the
  8. Both arms.
